9/10 - surprisingly mind blowing

Although I have quite a few skis that cater for most conditions that we get to ski here in Australia, and some that are more suited for my trips to Japan, I was still on the prowl for a new ski that sits in the 100mm wasit bracket. After taking some Salomon, Liberty, Atomic and Kastle skis for a spin i was on my way home when i spotted the Cham 97 and thought 'Ive got to try that'. Im very glad i did.

They handled a very wide...

        Comments about Dynastar CHAM 97:

Cham 97 high mtn 184 length
IMO the Cham 97 high mtn is a great all around ski for intermediate or advanced skier. Very forgiving. I've been skiing 46 years, weigh 175 lb, prefer to turn in the powder not just rail straight down the fall line. I seek out the powder, not just see how fast I can get back to the lift.
I compared the Cham 97 w/metal to these high mtn w/o metal. For my use and body weight the metal version was too stiff.
The high mtn 97 is quick edge to edge so turns well, but not a mind of its own, so goes where you point them. The tapered tip helps cross over uneven terrain w/o tip deflection even thru hard clumps. I can hit deep powder pockets, be thrown very far forward and the ski floats you back out of it. So your stance doesn't have to be perfect all the time. Thats why I say the ski is foregiving, and my guess is would work well for intermediate skier. I like the flat stiffer tail. YOu can shift weight back slightly to accelerate as needed depending on the terrain. The overall ski flex reminds me of the GS ski of days past. This flex makes for a great all around ski.
The local ski shop sold a pair of the 107 w/metal to an advanced intermediate skier, same weight as I am. The guy did not like them, would not float well in the powder for his ski style, and they wanted to go mostly down the fall line.
So I'm glad I bought the high mtn version, and don't see a problem with the 97 width since they float well, and are quick edge to edge on hardpack. They carve precisely on groomers.
I've been looking for a good powder ski for several years, and am glad I found the Cham 97 high mtn. Their performance on veried terrain off powder is a real plus that I was not expecting. I cannot say enough good about the Cham 97 high mtn.

My wife bought these for me as a retirement gift. If there is soft snow I'm in the trees all day. These skis are fun and as effortless as any ski I've ever tried. Stable at speed,, carve the groomers, and surprising float even in heavy snow at slower speeds. On very icy days I do grab my other pair of skis. These skis have put a lot of smiles on my face this year.
Wife also insisted I get the matching binding so I look good too!

This is a great all mountain ski. It is stable on all types of terrain although wants to be on edge all the time. Excellent in the powder and through heavy crud in changing conditions. Required a slightly more neutral stance.

These are my daily drivers at Fernie. The are great in the typical chopped pow/pow dry fresh snow of midweek skiing yet also excel at the groomed/packed condition of the weekend. Turn on a dime yet stable at speed. If you alway skied a "race" ski for the performance but wanted soft snow capability this is it.

          Comments about Dynastar CHAM 97:

I'll admit… the first time I saw the Dynastar Cham collection of skis, I said, "They've got to be kidding!" I thought the geometry, profile and graphics were way too over the top. At the time, I was with a very traditional Austrian born friend, who would have ditched me had I taken them for a test ride. As a result, I did not try the Chams at the Stratton Trade Show where, each year, we have the opportunity to test all of next year's products. It wasn't until our Dynastar rep gave us a pair of Cham 97's to take out west that I finally got on a pair. Wow!! Out of over fifty models I tried throughout the season they were, by far, my favorite all around ski for 2014. Out west they floated through the powder effortlessly because of the the 133 mm reverse cambered shovel. When I got them to Vermont, they carved precise, high speed turns due to the deep sidecut, traditional camber under the foot, full ABS sidewall and the two full sheets of titanium alloy. Late season, they were phenomenal in slush. I won't go into the details of the technology, i.e. Levitation Profile, Progressive 5-Point Sidecut, Long Rocker Tip and Flat Pintail construction, but I will tell you this… If there is a better ski for all mountain, all snow conditions, high performance skiing, I haven't skied it. I am a 6 foot tall, 190 lb. expert skier and I skied the Cham 97 in 178cm.
Trust me… this ski is perfect for an avid skier who skis in the east, west and Europe all season long, in varying conditions and all terrain types.

Everyone wants my skis! They are super versatile, easy carving on the groomed and solid in the crud. Still waiting for some deep fluff to try them out - can't wait! these will likely replace my powder skis along with my all mountains. Finally back to a one ski quiver.
