A successful first for Dominique Gisin.

The Swiss racer, Lange athlete 2011, will have carried out this weekend a superb performance while finishing 11th for her participation in a GS World Cup event.

Specialist in the speed disciplines, with already 3 victories in Downhill and Super G, Dominique is now competing well and begins to take her marks in the technical events.

4th last year in the Super Combined at the GAPA Worlds, the Dynastar athlete seems to have passed a new step in her career and will be able to go for precious points in the technical disciplines. 24th of the first run with the bib 32, Dominique clocked the second best time in the second round and takes 11th place of the stage.

Congratulations Dominique for this great and promising result.

Up for the most extreme transatlantic race

Up for the most extreme transatlantic race

Charente Maritime - Salvador de Bahia

At 2.00 pm, on Sunday, September 25th, Aurélien casted off after waiting for a long time for the departure, with its batch of arrangements, exchanges and solicitations of any kind which happen before any big race.

At 5:18 pm, the official start of the Transatlantic race 6.50 resounded for the 79 boats in for this unique adventure: the most extreme solo race: 4200 miles neither assistance nor communication from La Rochelle to Salvador de Bahia in Brazil. Well supported by a fan club “Port de la Mer de Glace” (understand : in a pure Chamoniard style), his youngest fan is none other than Marius his 3 year old son, who came to support him with skis, bonnets, cow bells, a nod to the mountain coming along with the start of this great adventure. After 18 hours of navigation, Aurélien is very honourably at the 29th position out of 79 participants!

The wind is very low, the ranking is very tight, there are only 5.27 miles separating Aurélien’s Nissan 417, to the "minist" (participant of the Mini) in the lead.

“Very nice beginning of race for Aurélien, well settled this morning in the middle of the fleet, only 4 miles far from the leader… and among the fastest in the last classification” analyzes David Sineau (skipper, 2nd of Transatlantic race 6.50 in 2007)

The watchword for Aurélien: PATIENCE AND STRATEGY!

Aurélien Ducroz : Nissan Xtreme Verbier 2011 by Swatch winner and new 2011 Freeride World Champion

Riders in this news :  Aurélien DUCROZ

Yesterday, on Sunday 20th of March, in Verbier the world's best freeriders put on a great show as they tested their skills against freeriding's most legendary face, the Bec des Rosses. This event determined who would ride away with the title of 2011 Freeride World Champion. In front of 7000 cheering spectators, men and women skiers and snowboarders attacked the steep 600-meter face in a technical battle that challenged the complete skills of every rider.

On a gorgeous day with a fresh blanket of cold snow and bluebird skies, riders competing on the Bec des Rosses skied their best lines in an effort to join the elite few who have been able to call themselves Freeride World Champion. Prior to the event, organizers closed the top looker's right of the face due to security reasons. However, several riders used creative line choices to find their way through the labyrinth of rocks, some to access the main cliff that was the key to winning today's event.

Out of the five men skiers who were still in contention for the men's overall ski title, it was our athlete Aurélien Ducroz (FRA) who skied the best line of the day with an outstanding run including two massive cliff drops and fast, confident riding on this challenging face. His performance was good enough to win him not only the top spot on the "Xtreme" podium but also the 2011 Freeride World Champion title. Samuel Anthamatten (SUI) is runner-up World Champion and Jérémy Prévost (FRA) takes third place overall, both in their first season on the Freeride World Tour.

"Everything went perfect for me today. I was really surprised nobody went on my line and thought to myself, ‘You guys gave me a big present!' I jumped two big cliffs; the second was even bigger than last year. I love the Bec des Rosses because it requires very technical skiing and I'm so happy to win here. I've been waiting for this title. Now I can go with a light heart into my sailing season."
